IMAX 70mm at Lincoln Square is the peak experience. But a conventional 70mm print is not a consolation prize: it is a rare, mechanical, light-through-celluloid event in its own right.
If Lincoln Square is sold out for the foreseeable future, book Village East now. The meaningful leap is digital to film; the step from 70mm to IMAX 70mm is a marvelous enhancement, not a reason to miss the run.

Still a real photochemical print passing through a projector. It gives you the texture, scale, and rarity of a film presentation without waiting for an IMAX 70mm seat.
The precision fallback
Dolby Cinema
Deep blacks, focused sound, and premium recliners make Dolby an excellent way to prioritize comfort and audiovisual punch when film is unavailable.
The screen-size option
IMAX Laser
A bright, large-format digital presentation. It is the choice for a giant image and stadium-scale spectacle, rather than the tactile character of film.

Book the rare experience in hand. Keep an eye on Lincoln Square cancellations 24–48 hours before showtime; if a great IMAX 70mm seat surfaces, it becomes a perfect second viewing.

Expect the essentials: fresh popcorn, candy, fountain drinks, bottled water, coffee and tea, plus packaged snacks and ice cream. Beer and wine are available for many screenings; selection can vary by showtime.
A quietly useful find: the theater has been known to carry Alternative Baking Company’s oversized vegan cookies.
A five-part evening
Leave enough margin to browse, snack, and get seated before the trailers.

340 Lafayette Street · roughly a 10–12 minute walk to Village East. Pick up a warm cookie for the walk or save it for the way home.

Take a slow route toward East 12th Street. This is the part of the evening that makes the ticket feel like a tiny trip.
- 3Arrive early at Village East
Settle in, get popcorn, and give the film presentation the attention it deserves.
- 4Take the credits with you
For a late sweet, reverse the Levain walk. For something more pastry-minded, Supermoon Bakehouse, Librae, and Veniero’s are all good East Village-adjacent ideas.
